The truth about Shimon Peres, and no, he wasn't a "dovish peacemaker".
Simon Peres was an Israeli defense minister, foreign minister, prime minister, president and occupied a host of other jobs and offices in the Israeli government since 1948. Since the establishment of Israel in 1948 he has played a key role in all of Israel's policies, including the darkest ones. The main stream media and Israeli propaganda like to portray him as being a “dovish peacemaker”, an image that was bolstered by the fact that he won a Nobel Peace prize in 1993. However, the hidden and untold truth about who he really was portrays him as being the opposite of a “dovish peacemaker”. Since 1948 and throughout his career he was Israel's biggest arms dealer securing massive weapons shipments to Israel. All the while he quietly fostered Israel’s own arms industries that would in time turn out world-class small arms, tanks, rockets and fighter aircraft. More significantly, it was Mr. Peres in the 1950s and 60s who developed Israel’s capacity to produce nuclear weapons. Unofficial reports, because Israel never acknowledged it had nuclear weapons, claim that Israel posses tens if not hundreds of nuclear missiles. In 1975, as secret minutes have since revealed, Peres met with South African Defence Minister PW Botha and “offered to sell nuclear warheads to the apartheid regime.” In 1986, Peres authorised the Mossad operation that saw Israeli nuclear whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu kidnapped in Rome. Shimon Peres was among the first in the Israeli leadership to promote the establishment of criminal Jewish settlements in the northern heart of the occupied West Bank. It happened in the mid-1970s and he was hailed as the man who literally created the illegal settlement movement that now boasts 500,000 people living in illegal settlements in the West Bank, and who are the biggest obstacle in any possible future Israeli – Palestinian peace deal. Shimon Peres never really wanted the Palestinians to have their own state, he preferred that Jordan should annex the whole West Bank, without the Israeli illegal settlements. In 1987, he concluded a deal with Jordan’s King Hussein for resolving the status of the West Bank. The agreement was intended to restore much of the occupied West Bank to Jordanian control, along with all the Palestinians in it, while leaving the Israeli settlers mostly in place. The plan was torpedoed by then-Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Shamir, who didn’t want to give up any of the territory. In 1992 under Yitzhak Rabin, Mr. Peres, once again foreign minister, oversaw the clandestine Oslo talks between Israeli and Palestinian officials that led to the 1993 Oslo Accord and the Nobel Peace Prize he kept prominently displayed in his office and never shut up about. What most people don't know was that he was not supposed to have received the award, It was meant to be given only to Rabin and Arafat, The Israeli and Palestinian leaders, and only after Peres interfered, pestered and threatened the Nobel committee was he granted one as well. In 1996 , while serving as Prime minister, he ordered the Israeli army, as part of an Israeli larger military campaign in south Lebanon, to shell Qana, a village in Southern Lebanon. When the Israel Defense Forces fired artillery shells at a United Nations compound. Of 800 Lebanese civilians who had taken refuge in the compound, 106 were killed and around 116 injured. He lost the elections in 1996 to Benjamin Netanyau, Israel's current PM, and since then has been relegetaed to the back benches of Israel Politics until in 2007 when the Israeli parliament appointed him as president, a ceremonious role without any real influence or power behind it. His time as president was mostly used to build up his image and prestige as a “dovish peacemaker” and brainwas both the Israeli that global media into forgetting his bloody war criminal arms dealing past and concentrate on the his newly invented and fraudulent image.
