Israel is a good example of why 'lockdowns' don't work

Lockdowns don't work, (unless you live on islands, tiny nation states or in dictatorships where the government lies about everything) and Israel, which just gone back to a second lockdown, is a great example of that. When the virus was first detected in Israel six months a go, a two and a half month of strict lockdown to “fight the virus” was imposed. No one was allowed to leave their home and only a small percentage of the population was allowed to go to work and the country only reopened when virus cases reached almost 0 nationwide. The economy tanked and almost one third of the population lost their jobs and livelihood and were reduced to living on stingy government handouts because the government “had to” impose the lockdown to “stop the virus”. Two moths after the lockdown was lifted and the country reopened the virus returned, because the virus (this is going to be shocking to some people) doesn't really care what the government does, and cases are spiking again in Israel, in fact it lead the world in cases per capita.

So Israel was not back to square one after the first lockdown, it is actually on square -100, seeing how it sacificed its economy and destroyed the livelihood of millions of Israelis only to find itself facing thousands of new cases on a daily basis instead of hundreds as was the situation before the first lockdown. So in other words, the lockdown strategy was a complete failure, just like almost everywhere else where strict lockdown measures were enacted (The US, India, South Africa, Spain, France, the UK etc... etc... ) where all it really managed to achieve was destroy the lives of a huge percentage of the population literally for nothing, seeing how cases are surging in all those countries again. So what's the Israeli government response to the current spike in virus cases? Another lockdown. Israel isn't alone in this, many other countries are thinking of going into a second pointless lockdown in order to “fight” the spread of the virus. So in a few months time from now the people of Israel will come out of the lockdown which was enacted to “stop the virus”, hundreds of thousands more would have their lives ruined for literally nothing, the government would declare “victory”, and the virus will return shortly after, which will be probably be followed by another lockdown to “stop the virus” and on, and on, and on... “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

This cycle of insanity is bound to repeat itself not just in Israel but in any other country where the goverment insists that the only way to "stop the virus" is with a second, pointless, nationwide lockdown. In case people are intrested in how a country fares without a lockdown, here's a chart of Sweden's hospitalization from the virus. Unlike almost every other major country in the world, Sweden never had a lockdown. As you can see, it's not exactly the end of the world as politicians and the media try to paint it.

Lastly, more and more medical experts are coming out and saying lockdowns don't work and should be avoided. Recently, hundreds of medical and health scientists signed a declaration which stated that "Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health." Epidemiologists and Professors of medicine Dr Sunetra Gupta, Dr Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Martin Kulldorff, explain in this video why lockdowns are the wrong way to deal with the covid epidemic.
