BREAKING NEWS: France rejects TTIP deal.

French PM Francois Hollande said today that he would reject the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) “at this stage” because France was opposed to unregulated free trade. This follows top secret TTIP documents leak which showed how US corporations will be granted unprecedented powers over any new public health or safety regulations to be introduced in future. If any European government does dare to bring in laws to raise social or environmental standards, TTIP will grant US investors the right to sue for loss of profits. French President François Hollande has said that his country is unable to accept the deal at the moment because of the rules that it enforces on France and the rest of Europe. “We will never accept questioning essential principles for our agriculture, our culture and for the reciprocity of access to public [procurement] markets,” Hollande as saying at a meeting of left-wing politicians in Paris. “At this stage [of the talks] France says ‘No.'” If France walked out of the deal, talks on the agreement between Europe and the US would almost certainly come to an end since it must be approved by each of the 28 countries in the EU.
